A welcome from
Mark Walker
For more than a decade, the Tech4Good Awards have been one of my favourite parts of AbilityNet’s work. Every year we meet people who remind us why technology matters: because it can remove barriers, open doors and give people possibilities they didn’t have before.
The Awards are our chance to celebrate those people, amplify their ideas, and help them reach the next stage of their journey.
How it all started
The Awards began in 2011 as a collaboration between AbilityNet and BT, who recognised that incredible socially driven innovation was happening across the UK — but wasn’t always being seen or supported.
The idea was simple: create a platform that celebrates the best examples of technology improving lives, and give them access to experts, partners, visibility and momentum.
Since then the Awards have grown into a global programme, attracting entries from more than 60 countries and championing projects across accessibility, sustainability, health, education, inclusive employment, and digital inclusion.
Our Purpose
The purpose of the Tech4Good Awards has remained the same from day one:
- Spotlight the innovators creating positive impact.
- Support them with recognition, networking and pathways to growth.
- Celebrate the role technology can play in solving real‑world problems.
- Build a community of people who believe in tech that changes lives.
The Role of Our Sponsors and Partners
The Tech4Good Awards are made possible through the support of organisations that share our commitment to inclusive innovation and social impact. This year, we are proud to work with sponsors who are helping to champion technology that creates a more accessible and equitable world.
Our 2026 sponsors include:
- IBM – Ceremony host
- BT Group – Digital Inclusion Award
- eBay – Digital Accessibility Award
- HSBC – AI for Good Award
We are also proud to partner with ImpactMatch whose support helps us connect purpose-driven organisations, innovators and changemakers across the technology and social impact sectors.
Each sponsor brings expertise, visibility and credibility that helps elevate the Awards, celebrate innovation, and support the growth of organisations and individuals using technology for good.
Why the Awards Matter
Past winners regularly tell us that the Awards helped them:
- Secure investment
- Build partnerships
- Reach new audiences
- Validate their idea
- Open doors in government, business and global networks
But more than that, the Awards create a sense of belonging. People who might have felt overlooked suddenly find themselves part of a community that understands and values what they’re trying to do.
The legacy we’re building
Over 14 years, the Awards have showcased hundreds of projects that have gone on to create real, measurable change.
Many have scaled globally, influenced policy, won major funding, or built lasting partnerships.
We now see former winners returning as judges, mentors and sponsors — helping shape the next wave of Tech4Good innovators.
Looking Ahead
The need for accessible, inclusive and socially responsible technology has never been clearer. AI, wearable tech, robotics, data tools, climate‑tech and assistive innovations are reshaping the world at pace. The Tech4Good Awards remain a place where those ideas can be recognised, nurtured and celebrated.
Whether you’re an early‑stage creator, a grassroots community group, a large organisation or an individual with a simple but powerful idea — we want to hear your story.
