A digital display-board designed to help doctors manage busy wards has been a huge hit with both staff and patients at the Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

MyWard,  developed in collaboration with NHS staff, was the winner of our Digital Health Award in 2016. Operating on mental health wards, it uses a visual story board to give staff an instant picture of what is happening on each ward.

Digital display-board makes more time for patients

Now, instead of searching for patient information and hand-writing on whiteboards, staff can spend more time with patients and make sure wards are run cost-efficiently. This new digital system links all the patient information together and the touch-screen board operates in real-time.

The digital display-board was a huge hit with both patients and staff and its creators are hoping to take this technology to other hospitals. Over 90% of staff agreed that it contributed positively to patient safety and care, with 20 out of 21 saying they would recommend it to another service.

We have seen the difference digital projects make to healthcare systems, both here and around the world. They might not be able to solve all the issues in complex organisations like the NHS, but small changes and innovations are making life-changing differences.

There are so many different ways tech for good can support healthcare organisations, and not just the NHS. A recent article on how artificial intelligence could transform the doctor-patient relationship gave some more innovative examples of how technology is having a huge impact.

The NHS is packed with people passionate about changing and saving lives. Bringing together these people with experts from the tech for good world is what we are passionate about.
