Torchit combines technology, community leadership and scale in a way few entries do. Reaching more than 2 million lives across 40-plus countries, it shows how inclusive innovation can spread far beyond pilots into lasting ecosystem change.

Torchit is tackling one of the biggest but least solved accessibility gaps in the Global South. More than 1 billion people worldwide live with disabilities, yet millions are still excluded from education, work, mobility and digital participation because assistive technology is unavailable, unaffordable or too hard to access. Torchit responds by combining affordable assistive devices, AI-powered accessibility tools, inclusive education and community-led training to build whole ecosystems of support rather than just distribute products. The impact is already significant. Torchit has reached more than 2 million lives across India and over 40 countries, especially in underserved communities. More than 300 disabled people are now part of its ecosystem as trainers, ambassadors and accessibility leaders, helping others in schools, villages and communities. This peer-led model matters because it builds trust, strengthens adoption and creates long-term support at local level. Torchit has also received national and international recognition, including awards linked to the United Nations, the President of India and the Zero Project. The result is a more practical route to dignity, independence and inclusion at scale.
